The Fed 215 seems to be a bit larger (that is, it seems to fit more snugly in a case which has been fired several times), therefore I reserve it for older brass. I do like to start new brass with the unplated Winchester WLR because they are slightly smaller in diameter than other primers. The purported differences in most primers is mostly in the advertising and the price. With lighter bullets you may actually run out of powder space with 7828, but a little compression is a good thing with most slow powders.Īs to primers, use whatever is on hand. I particularly like the consistency of IMR7828SSC, so I would probably start with that one. Any of the four starting with H4831 through RL25 are good candidates for higher velocity in your 7mm RM. When I was loading for the 7mm RM I used H4831 (signficantly slower than IMR 4831).
